        T-Ball - Ages 5 & 6 (all 5 and 6 year olds will play in AA - see below)

T-Ball is the beginning level for most youngsters playing Little League.  Every member of the team plays defense every inning and every member of the team is in the batting order.  The primary focus of T-Ball is fun.  The kids will be exposed to the basics of hitting, throwing, scoring runs and recording outs.

         AA - Ages 5, 6 & 7

AA is a transition year from T-Ball to AAA.  Coaches will pitch to the batters for first half of the season and  we have the option of utilizing a pitching machine for the second half.  For coach pitch the coach/manager will pitch to the batter; after three swings, the ball is placed on a Tee.  A team bats until three outs are recorded or seven runs have scored.  Every member of the team plays defense every inning.  AA adds an additional complexity to hitting (the thrown ball).

         AAA - Ages 7, 8 & 9

AAA is the first year where the entire roster does not play defense every inning.  Defense in AAA is four infielders, a catcher, and five outfielders.  The first half of the season, a pitching machine is used and a batter will receive six strikes to put the ball into play before being declared out.  The second half of the season, the league may consider the option of allowing nine-year-old kids the option to pitch.  A batting Tee is only used in practice.  Like AA, each team bats until three outs are recorded or seven runs have scored.  Every member of the team is in the batting order.

         Minors - Ages 8, 9, 10, & 11

Minors introduce the kids to the draft and keeping score.  While league standings are not kept, the score of each game is kept during the course of the game.  The manager drafts his/her team.  A "seven run rule" helps keep the games moving.  Only the regular nine defensive positions are filled, but every member of the team is placed in the batting order.  Free defensive substitutions are allowed.  Every member of the team should play in one half to two thirds of the defensive innings.  If necessary, eligible players may be 'called up' to the majors.

         Majors - Ages 10, 11 & 12

Majors is the standard premier division of Little League.  The manager drafts his/her team.  Returning Major players do not need to tryout as they return to their same team.  Only nine members of the team, plus the DH, are in the batting order at any point in the game.  Each player must play six defensive outs and bat one time in team.  Defensive substitution is limited by Little League rules.  League standings are kept which determine seeding for any post-season league tournament and the following year's draft.  There are no run limit rules in the Majors division.

         Juniors - Age 13 & 14

Juniors is another transition year for kids.  The base paths are extended to 80 feet and the pitching distance is 56 feet.  Leading off and pitching from the stretch are allowed.  Base runners are not required to wait until the ball reaches the batter before attempting to steal.  Headfirst sliding is allowed.  Free defensive substitution is allowed and the entire team roster is in the batting order.  Again, a draft system is used to assemble teams.

         Seniors - Ages 14, 15 & 16

Seniors is a lot like Majors.  The base paths are the full 90 foot distance.  The pitching is 60 feet 6 inches.   Only nine member of the team are in the batter order at any point in team.  Each player must play six defensive outs and bat one time during each game.  Defensive substitution is limited by Little League rules.  League standings are kept which determine seeding for any post-season league tournament.  The draft system is used to assemble teams.

         Big League: Ages 16, 17, & 18

Big League uses the same rules as Seniors.  Depending on League size, a draft may be used to assemble teams.

         Challenger: AllSchool Aged Children

Challenger is a special division of Little League for children who are physically and/or emotionally disabled, including non-ambulatory.
